regardless

May I tell you something? If you can grasp this, if you can really take it to heart and live by it, it will change your life. Nay, it will transform your ability to deal with life on a day to day basis. The difficulty is that it is so hard to live by that even as I give you this advice, I am giving it to myself.

People are going to disappoint you. Even people that you love and care about, people that you would do anything for. People will do things that you never could have imagined they would do, and it will tear you down. It will break you down, and you will stand there open-mouthed, in disbelief.

Here is the truth. You have to forgive them. Because you disappoint people too. People who care about you. You have to forgive them. It is more valuable to salvage a friendship or a work relationship than to keep your pride. Sometimes it is not possible, but most of the time it is.

Forgive relentlessly. Even if they dont acknowledge that they hurt you. It doesnt mean that you have to let them do it to you again over and over, but you do have to forgive. And then, one day, when you do something senseless and hurt a friend, hopefully they forgive you.

Life is hectic. Many times we hurt others with our actions or inaction, words or lack of words spoken, and many times we don’t even know. We must forgive, and press forward. This life is too precious to let our fellowship be broken. Plus, lets be honest. Christ has purchased forgiveness for us, we have no right to withhold that same forgiveness from others.

Note: This is not aimed at any of my readers, by the way. But I have experienced this in my life, and I have learned you must forgive.
